Liberty Tool Company has been a destination for tools and antiques in Maine since 1976. But the story begins a few years earlier in 1970, when Skip Brack opened the Jonesport Wood Company in the small coastal town of Jonesport, Maine.
What started as a mix of driftwood art and salvaged items quickly became something more. While Skip originally sold driftwood sculptures alongside used tools, it was the tools that drew customers in and shaped the direction of the business.
Over time, that original idea grew into Liberty Tool Company. Today, the store is known for its wide selection of tools, antiques, and one-of-a-kind finds. From hand tools and vintage pieces to books, artwork, glassware, and unexpected treasures, there is something here for everyone.
Part of what makes Liberty Tool Company special is the experience itself. The building is full of character, the inventory is always changing, and every visit offers the chance to discover something new. With multiple vendors and a constantly rotating selection, no two visits are ever the same.
Founded by historian, art-lover, and tool expert Skip Brack, the business reflects decades of experience, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for tools and their stories. Over the years, his work expanded into multiple locations and projects, all centered around collecting, preserving, and sharing useful and interesting objects. Today, as he has retired and downsized his operations, Liberty Tool Company continues as the primary store carrying that legacy forward.
Now family-run, the focus remains the same: to offer a unique mix of tools and antiques in a space that feels welcoming, interesting, and exciting. Whether you are searching for something specific or just stopping in to look around, Liberty Tool Company is a place where you can take your time, have fun, get inspired, and find just what you need.
